Scaffolding

This one's going to be short and sweet, not having the best of days however wanted to share two "beauties" I came across this evening.

First is a poet that a close friend of mine introduced to me. Namely, Seamus Heaney. I haven't read much of his work [yet] however one of his poems has stuck with me. The title of this entry seemed appropriate, as it is also the name of the poem. This was one of the first poems he ever wrote, and is relate-able (to myself at least) because he refers to scaffolding almost as if it's referring to the bonds that keep a strong relationship together, even though the difficult times when the joints are tested.

Scaffolding:

Masons, when they start upon a building,
Are careful to test out the scaffolding; 
Make sure that planks won’t slip at busy points, 
Secure all ladders, tighten bolted joints. 
And yet all this comes down when the job’s done 
Showing off walls of sure and solid stone.

So if, my dear, there sometimes seem to be 
Old bridges breaking between you and me 
Never fear. 
We may let the scaffolds fall 
Confident that we have built our wall.

The other beauty I merely stumbled upon is a song by an Italian singer Sayaka Alessandra. I was browsing through blogs because I felt like hearing what other potentially lost souls felt like blogging about on blogger.com and happened upon a woman who is the mother of this Italian singer.

She indirectly introduced me to the wonders of her daughter. I haven't listened to many of her songs [yet] but the one I did listen to over and over because I enjoyed it so much. Even though I don't understand a word of it, haha!
